The Yemenite shofar, used for generations by the Jews of Yemenite is now popular world-wide, enjoyed for its attractive shape and its wider range of notes. It comes from the horns of the African kudu, a large striped antelope with long powerful spiral horns.
A Shofar can be used any time of year but its ritual use is during the High Holiday season. Its wordless blast penetrates deep within the heart returning the Jew to his source. A Jewish Sage once highlighted the power of the Shofar when he described how every door in Heaven has its own key to unlock the door. Only the Shofar has the unique ability to open every door. One who takes to heart the message of the Shofar has acquired a master key that will penetrate all obstacles.
