These tortoise brooches are based on a find from Lisbjerg, Denmark, and sport a very cheerful looking gripping beast design. They are lighter than our previous version with a new mould being produced to replicate the traditional construction method. As a result, the back of the brooch is patterned with weave from the cloth used when making the mould - just like the originals.

All pewter brooches are cast in lead free pewter by us in Scotland. Finished pewter brooches are then sent to specialists in England to be gold plated with 1 micron thick gold.
